As your children grow, they will go through many stages of kid riding toys that they will use. As a toddler, your child will begin by using four-wheel ride-ons. These first kid riding toys usually have a seat in the middle with wheels at the front and back. They can be in the shape of just about anything imaginable from a train to a bus or even a fire truck. They often have working horns, sometimes bells or a fake phone attached to the toy. When you buy these they usually come in a box and you’ll have to put them together so your toddler can enjoy riding on them. Often they come with stickers for you to put on to make them look more appealing to your child. Girl or boy there will be one of these that will make your child smile.
As they grow, their fascination with kid riding toys seems to grow with them. The next step up will be for them to ride scooters and tricycles. They leave the stage of four-wheel ride-ons and move quietly into the three-wheel arena. This is a big step for kids as the toys they love to ride on are now for use outside instead of just in the guarded play area of their home. They can go with for walks around their neighborhood, to the corner store or the park. This added freedom, for a relatively young child, could be a big step in their growth.
The ultimate kid riding toys are bicycles. This is when children move to two wheeled ride-ons. The younger children will learn to use these by first learning with training wheels. Once they have passed through this stage they will need help in learning to balance on a bicycle. A parent, caregiver or older sibling can help in this learning stage. When they’ve mastered the bicycle it will become their first real taste of independence as they can now go places by themselves, whether it’s to a friends, to school, or to a sports event.
